Laborde Products, Covington, La., announced that Mitsubishi Marine Engines has introduced a new 1350-hp rating for its Tier 3 S12R engine platform. The rating is available at both 1,600 and 1,800 rpm.
This addition expands the Tier 3 offerings for the S12R engine, which also includes 1100-hp and 1260-hp configurations. A Laborde statement said the 1350-hp option is designed for repower applications in vessels requiring 2600–2800-hp combined.
Laborde noted the same S12R platform is also available in a Tier 4 configuration at 1260-hp with the addition of a selective catalytic reduction aftertreatment system.
The S12R is a mechanical diesel engine that has been used in a range of commercial marine vessels, said Laborde. Laborde Products distributes Mitsubishi Marine Engines in the U.S. Gulf Coast and inland waterways region and now offers the updated S12R through its dealer network.
