The Canaveral Pilots Association announced it has launched its new pilot boat in Florida's Port Canaveral.
The 38'x12' boat was built by North River Boats, Roseburg, Ore., and is powered by twin Mercury 5.7L, V10 400XXL Verados. A Side-Power 100/185T bowthruster provides enhanced maneuverability.
The boat's electronics package includes Furuno radar, GPS, and a 3D multibeam sonar. The vessel is equipped with a Teledyne FLIR M364 thermal Imaging camera.
The vessel features an Ocean3 workboat fender system to facilitate pilot boarding and disembarkation as well as an EZ Puller 500-lb.-capacity davit for man-overboard rescue and recovery.
"This new boat demonstrates the Canaveral Pilots Association's commitment to safety and to exceed the state of Florida's statutory mandate to provide a modern, dependable piloting service," the pilots said in a statement.
