Washburn & Doughty Associates, Inc., East Boothbay, Maine, has delivered a new tractor tug for New York-based McAllister Towing, which has placed the vessel into service in the Port of Baltimore.
The 93'x38' Isabel McAllister was recently delivered following its launch and christened in January, the towing company's president, Buckley McAllister, shared in a social media post on Sunday.
The 6,770-hp Isabel McAllister features a pair of EPA Tier 4 compliant Caterpillar 3516E engines that power Schottel SRP 490 FP Z-drive units. Its certified bollard pull is 81.3 metric tons.
The tug is equipped with 99-kW John Deere 4045 AFM85 EPA Tier 3 generators, Markey Machine winches on the bow and stern, as well as CAT C18 fire pump and FFS monitor with 6,000-gpm foam injection capability.
The newbuild — classed by the American Bureau of Shipping as an A1 Maltese Cross Low Emissions Vessel — is the fourth 80-metric-ton-escort-rated tug built for McAllister Towing by Washburn & Doughty.
The two companies are also in contract for another tug, the Gerard McAllister, scheduled for delivery later this year.
